May 19th 2007- The day I married my best friend!

Wes and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary about a month ago. We were so busy I didn't get a chance to blog about it. So here it is, better late than never.

Wesley and I have had an incredible 3 years of marriage, and I just want to reminisce about it a little bit, starting with the proposal.

When Wesley proposed to me I knew without a doubt that I wanted to marry him. In fact, if he didn't propose soon, I was ready to ask to him to marry me :) But I didn't have to, because on September 29, 2006 Wesley asked me to marry him at a park where we were supposedly having a picnic with family. Little did I know, the picnic was not going to happen! We went to the park early to set up for the picnic, and apparently Wesley's cooler was not full of food, but instead it had a ring inside. After the proposal ( I would tell you what he said, but I don't actually remember because all I could think about was how excited I was that he was down on one knee) we went back to my parents house where both of our families were anxiously awaiting us. My mom had set up a "picnic" in the kitchen to replicate what we were supposed to be doing at the park. It was so special to celebrate that evening with our families who love us so much!
Yes I cried like a baby, and yes I have make up smeared all over my face!
The next morning my mom had made an appointment for me to try on wedding dresses. I was beyond thrilled. I tried on about 7 dresses and found the dress of my dreams. All the women in our family were there with me for the dress shopping.

After finding the perfect dress, all we had left to do was plan the wedding. This took 7 short months and I could not have done it without my mom. The big day was finally here, and I could not wait to marry my high school sweetheart.

My Dad walked me down the aisle and handed me off to my husband. After raising me and teaching me for 20 years, he was finally letting go and giving Wesley the responsibility as the new man in my life, and the leader of our family that we started that wonderful day. I was so thrilled to have made it to this point. Wesley and I saved ourselves for marriage, and this ceremony had so much meaning and purpose because of our purity. Wesley's grandfather married us, and we were so honored to have him do so. The ceremony was perfect, and we were so giddy that I barely remember the words that his Grandfather said (this seems to be a recurring theme, I should listen more when I am excited). We lit our unity candle, had our first communion has husband and wife, exchanged rings, kissed!! and then walked down the aisle together for the first time as husband and wife.

The reception was spectacular. We had a photo booth for all our guests, and it was a huge hit!
We celebrated, danced the night away, and just took in all that was happening. The night went by so fast, and we enjoyed every minute of it. We were very excited to leave the reception and begin our new life together.

We went to San Diego for our honeymoon, and we have so many memories of our first week of married life. We continually bring up our honeymoon, and the exciting times we shared, as well as some of the funny stories we learned about each other. Like how Wesley talks in his sleep, something I didn't know before our honeymoon, and some of the best stories we have from that week. Ask me about it sometime, we love to tell those stories.
And now 3 years later we are more in love than ever before. Since getting married we bought a home, Wesley started medical school, we have our first baby, and I am now a stay at home mom. So many things have changed in our lives, yet our love for each other just continues to grow. I love Wesley more with each day, and I can not imagine my life without him. He know how to make me laugh, knows how to hold and love me, and we never can run out of things to talk about. I love my husband with all my heart and he is my best friend. I hope to have many more anniversaries with my adorable husband, and I pray that our love for each other continues to grow with each new year. We are blessed beyond belief and so thankful the Lord created us for one another.
