Mom-Chic: {Brrrrr}

First off, just wanted to say Hi!!!! to all my new followers. During my little blog break, I did a guest post over at Stylin' Mommies. I got some great feedback and some new followers to my blog. So, welcome!!

It is finally cold here, like freezing...well, freezing for us Arizonans. I don't really like to be cold. I also hate to dress my boys for the cold. Camden {almost 3} literally hates pants, basically any clothes, but specifically pants. I think he would live in his underwear if it was acceptable to leave the house that way. Trying to convince him to wear pants, a jacket, and socks with his shoes is exhausting. And Grayson, well he just straight up hates socks and shoes. The poor kid must have no feeling in his toes after all the times he has been out in the cold weather barefoot. I actually had someone tell him when I was out shopping: "Oh, poor thing, I bet your feet are so cold, you look like you need socks"!! I basically told her, "Ok Lady, I am not the worst Mom in the world, I did dress him warm, with socks, and fuzzy boots, but he managed to rip them off and almost lost his boot in the last store we were in. So no, he doesn't have anything on his feet, but not for my lack of trying. I do love my children, and their toes." Ok I didn't say that, but I was close!! ;)

So now that we are clear on how much I don't like really cold weather, I do enjoy dressing in warm clothes. I love using scarves to dress up an outfit, and I love wearing boots. I know my boots have been in basically every "MomChic" post, but I only have a few pairs and they are totally working for keeping my toes comfortable in this weather. 

I love the trend of wearing bracelets with watches. This little duo is new, I found both pieces at the Dillard's New Years Day sale. For anyone brave enough to go to Dillard's on New Years Day, I commend you. I walked in the store and had to walk right back out. People and sale overload!! While I waited for the rest of the girls in my shopping group, I sat near the exit {away from the crazy shoppers} and saw a table of clearance Jewelry. To my surprise, the stuff was adorable and cheap. So I added these 2 pieces to my arm party and I'm glad I did.

Also, I think scarves are so fun to wear during winter, and I've decided that infinity scarves are my fav. If I have a scarf that is not an infinity scarf, I just wrap it around and do a mockfinity {totally a word} and tuck the ends underneath. What do you think? Could you tell?!

Mom-Chic {headbands}

There are some trends I totally get excited about, and I think I will be able to pull them off. But then I end up feeling really silly, I change my mind and put my regular stuff back on.

That is how I feel about headbands. I love them. I love them on other people. I own a few different ones, but each time I put one on, I take it off before I leave the house. Not sure why, but I'm a wimp. 

When I put this outfit on, my husband loved it! He always loves when I do something different with my hair, since it is always straight. Wearing a headband with my signature straight hair is something I could  eventually get used to.

The headband is tricky! You have to position it on top of your ears, not above...just trust me, you don't want your ears sticking out from under your headband!

I'm also loving the bow trend. Bow jewelry, bow shoes, bow tops...just bows. So feminine and sweet. 

I found this top at Ross a few years back. It's sweat shirt material with a lace applique bow. I love when the weather cools down enough for me to wear it. I actually wore it last year on the day we brought Grayson home from the hospital! Love!

I love Christmas!!

I love this time of year, but I don't always love the craziness of Christmas.

I hate going shopping this time of year, the amount of people out in stores makes me crazy, the traffic is ridiculous, and the amount of money people spend makes my heart flutter.

What I REALLY love about this time of year is the parties and family time. I love when we all get together and just spend quality time as a family. 

Here in Arizona, the weather doesn't yet know it's Christmas time. We have still been in the 70's and 80's for the past few weeks. Which means you have to be creative when dressing for a Christmas party. You can't always wear boots and a scarf, you might start sweating. 

I just put together a cute outfit {from clothes I already had} and it is perfect for our warm Christmas weather.

I just love this top! I found it at Ross for a steal, and it is a total Christmas shirt. I love the deep red color of it, and it has gold flecks throughout.

My favorite part has to be the back. It is cinched together in the back with a sheer fabric down the middle. {the sheer fabric didn't show up well in the pictures}

Paired with white pants, gold wedges, some gold jewels, and of course red nails, and I would say this outfit is perfect for a casual Christmas party!

Let's hope our weather gets cold soon so I can really get into the Christmas spirit.

Do you ever get excited when you find something so super cheap on the clearance rack that you just can't wait to buy it?!

I do. 

And then I get home and wonder why I bought something I didn't really love, just because the price was so fantastic. 

That is what happened with this pink sweater. I've been trying to find some fun winter tops since this is the first winter in over 3 years that I haven't been pregnant or nursing. I saw this sweater for $4.48 and knew I had to have it! Steal!

Then I got home, wore it to a play date with some jeans and hated how it looked.

In a moment of regret, I decided to give it one more shot. This time I added a shirt underneath, leggings, boots, and a pop of accent color. 

New love! 

Here it is.

 It is a great color {which is what initially drew me to it}, and I love the slouchy look, especially with leggings.

Definitely found a new way to wear this super inexpensive sweater. 

I'm just glad I didn't waste my $4.48 and throw this in a giveaway pile.

My favorite part of the outfit however, has to be these boots. Another gift from my mom from 2 years ago. I guess she is my boot supplier. I better remind her, since my birthday is coming up!

I'm slowly learning my lesson on impulsive buying. Just because it is cheap, doesn't mean I have to buy it!

Mom-chic

Being a Mom of two boys doesn't always earn the title of "chic". There are many days when I wear a comfy t-shirt and old jeans just so I can say I {got dressed} for the day. My days are filled with changing diapers, nursing, making lots of little meals, cleaning up lots of meals, playing with hot wheels, and pretending to be a dinosaur. Not very glam if you ask me! 

But that doesn't mean I can't make some effort in my wardrobe on the days when I can get in a shower before we leave the house. 

I have always loved clothes! I love the way I feel in a new outfit. I love pairing together things I've owned for a long time, and making {new} outfits out of them. 

Now, I am not a high fashion model, nor do I belong in any fashion magazine. My style is simple, comfy, and affordable. Reality is, if I buy a silk top that needs dry cleaned, I would never wear it. So why waste my time?! 

I have lots of clothes that can get messy and still wash up and look good the next time I wear them. And since I love to switch up my clothes so often, I love to buy stuff that is affordable! 

I literally try to buy quantity over quality...most of the time! I do invest in some good staples, but if there is a day when I just would love to wear a new shirt, I scrounge the clearance racks to find a good buy at a great price! 

I would love your feedback on how these outfits look! I will do my best to tell you what I'm wearing, where it came from, and the approximate price.

 I wore this outfit while running errands with my family this weekend. I love it for many reasons!

It is VERY comfy. I feel like it looks fancy, but I almost feel like I am in my pajamas.

This dress is one of the softest items I own. And you will never guess where I found it?! Clearance rack at Target...in the little girls section. Yes, I am only 5'1", basically the size of an 11 year old. So there have been many occasions where I hide in the girls clearance and hope people don't see me holding things up to see if they fit. 

The skinny jeans I am wearing came from the clearance rack at Ross. I own about 3 pairs and wear them a few times a week. They work so well with my boots, and even look great with flats.

Speaking of boots, these are the best. My mom gave them to me last year for my birthday, and I have for sure gotten my use out of them. Don't be surprised to see them show up here about once a week. There are flat, comfy, and totally worn in.
