First night alone...

Ok so maybe we didn't have an entire night to ourselves, but we did have our room to ourselves. Camden slept in his crib in his room the entire night. We decided that it was time. Sunday night when Cam slept in our room, after he ate he decided he wanted to chat the rest of the night. Yes, newborns do know how to talk! He mumbles, groans, and growls in his sleep. This is usually adorable, but not at 3 am. When we woke up Monday morning around 6, and we couldn't go back to sleep because of his noises, I lost it. I became so frustrated and said, thats it, we are buying a mattress today for his crib and he is sleeping in there tonight! Yes, we still did not have a mattress. I was trying to hold out on buying one (mostly because they aren't cheap) until we have our family baby shower at the end of this month. (We missed out on my shower while I was pregnant because I had to go on bed rest.) So yesterday we made the big decision...used gift cards and coupons we had for Buy Buy Baby and we got his mattress, video monitor, and angel movement monitor. We are sooo glad we invested in everything!

So last night, after kissing him a hundred times, crying a few tears, and Wes taking pictures of me putting him in his crib (yes, we are first time parents, can you tell?) we walked out and left our baby boy all by himself.

I am pretty sure he didn't notice the difference. In our room we set up the video monitor, and plugged it in to the little tv we have in our room (by little I mean like 10 inches, about the size of an iphone I think, haha). When we went back in our room I stared at the little TV screen to see our boy. I am glad we set up the monitor, because it put me at ease to be able to wake up whenever I wanted and glance at our tiny screen to watch Camden sleeping in his crib...but I actually never woke up to do this until he had been asleep for 4 hours. I was in a very deep sleep. When I woke up I looked at my clock next to my bed, it still thinks we are on day light savings time, so it was an hour ahead and I thought at first he had been sleeping for 5 hours, I almost started singing Hallelujah! However getting 4 hours was still great. He made a few noises but did sleep another half hour before wanted to eat. Did you hear that, 4 and a half hours!! I haven't slept that many hours in a row since before he was born. I can't tell you how nice that was.
After I fed him for only 30 minutes, I put him back in his crib and he fell fast asleep for another 3 hours. I fed him one more time, but now Wes was up getting ready for school, so I thought maybe he would take him and let me sleep. Well Wes wanted to study, so once again, back in the crib and he slept another hour until Wes left for school. Do you hear that, I got like 8 hours of sleep total last night!!

We are so glad that we made the big move. He is only 5 weeks and 1 day old, but we were ready. His room is very close to our room, so we can be in there so quickly if we have to. I am really looking forward to getting a full night of sleep within about a week (hopefully). Our doctor said by 6 weeks he will be fine going 5-6 hours in between feedings. I am glad we are making progress! I will be excited to report back to our doctor that he did indeed sleep that long by 6 weeks.

I will keep you updated on his sleeping progress.
