Today was our fourth Sunday taking Camden to church. The first one he slept the entire service, the second one we spent the whole service in the nursing room because he was fussy, last week we spent the entire service in the nursing room again, but this time he was actually nursing. Today, well it was different than all the rest. Camden was in his infant seat during the worship at the beginning, he was wide awake staring at all the lights, quiet as can be. As soon as our Pastor got up to speak, he started to groan and growl a little bit, but was not fussy. His noises started to get louder so I thought, well I really should take him out so he doesn't disturb everyone. Maybe he needs a diaper change?? I looked at Wes, and he said, did you put more diapers in the diaper bag? I said, well I didn't know we were all out! Apparently Wes took the last diaper out when we were at the zoo, and I hadn't opened the bag since to see we were all out! I was hoping maybe a diaper change would not be needed, but since Camden was talking so much I took him outside to check his diaper. Sure enough, our sweet little man who poops every other day, and has only ever pooped when we are home, had pooped! Not just a little poop, a full diaper worth of poop! Great! Now what? Well it just so happens our church is doing a diaper drive...translation- there was a huge bin full of diapers about 20 feet away from where I was! They are taking new or opened packages of diapers, so I of course thought about rummaging through the bin to find a size 1, but there just so happend to be a group of men sitting right near there, and how bad would that look?! Well I took a quick gander at the bin, and sure enough there was an open bag of diapers right on top! I could snag one right? No, they were a size 3 (HUGE!) At just that time Wes came out to check on me because I had texted him about my situation. We just started laughing really hard. A sweet man saw us standing there dumb founded and said, you guys ok? We told him we just needed a simple diaper and it was so funny that we just didn't have even 1 with us! He said, um hello, huge bin of diapers right here, lets find what you need. So he opened a package of 1 diapers and gave us one. I felt so bad for taking this pathetic diaper, so we are donating all of our newborn diapers this week.
All in all we got the diaper changed, and he was a happy camper the rest of the service, however I still could not tell you a thing we learned in church today, I think I only heard the final 2 minutes of the sermon, and my brain was not switched back on during that time.
Anyways...here are the lessons we did learn today-
#1 We are obviously first time parents
#2 ALWAYS check the diaper bag for diapers before you leave
#3 When taking the old size diapers out of the car diaper holder (for emergencies, obviously) remember to replace with the new ones!
#4 Don't steal diapers from a church diaper drive (unless a sweet man offers to steal it for you) #5 Always laugh at the lessons you learn when parenting, stress just makes things harder.

This is cracking me up!
I have an extra diaper bag that I keep in the trunk of my car that has an extra change of clothes for Colin (and a shirt for me when he was a baby in case he spit up), diapers, wipes, etc. It is perfect for the days when you forget to restock the diaper bag.
Oh yes, I have a back up bag in the car too...but I emptied out the newborn diapers from it and forgot to refill it with the new size! Haha it is a good idea if you actually have everything in it!
I do that all the time...and I am not a first time parent so you're normal. Pretty lucky situation that there was a diaper drive!
So funny! This cracked me up!! :)
It happens to all of us! I've had to use a size 4 on Jackson as a newborn. It did the job! Althoug it went up to his nipples!
