23 Weeks

I am now 23 weeks. This week has been fun. We had our Dr. Appt last Thursday, and it went really well. We did the regular routine, walk in, pee in a cup, hop on the scale....hop off the scale, take of my scarf and hope that when I hop back on the scale that the little numbers would change. But they didn't! Apparently at 23 weeks it is normal to have gained 17 lbs!!! Ahhh I almost fell over. Where the heck are the 17 lbs hanging out? I am pretty sure at this point Camden is just over 1 lb. and I know I have put some junk in my trunk, but I didn't know I put that much! Wesley was just cracking up at me, he was like, did you actually think that stepping off the scale and taking off your scarf would actually make you weigh less?? Haha, my answer to that was, yes! But I was wayyy wrong. Thankfully, the midwife we saw at that appt assured me that my weight gain is perfect, I have not gained to much, and I sure as heck have not gained too little! After the scale incident we continued on to our room for our check up. These tend to be pretty uneventful at this stage because we really just chat about how I am feeling, I ask any questions, and then we hear the heartbeat. This time however, the heartbeat was so much more fun to hear. At first when she put the doppler on my tummy we heard the heartbeat, which is like a swishy sound. But she kept rolling the doppler around because she wanted it to be right over the heart so we could hear how different it sounded. As soon as she got to the area where his heart is his heartbeat became so much louder. It sounded like someone was knocking. It was soo cute. We just love hearing him!

Also this week, Camden kicks me so hard that you can see my tummy jump. It is the coolest thing I have ever seen. Wesley and I will just lay in bed and watch him jump around! It is fun because now he is moving more when I am up and moving around, where as before I would have to be sitting or laying down for him to move the most. Last night as I was making dinner he kept kicking me, and I was afraid to lean on the counter because I thought it would hurt his little foot if he kicked the countertop. So I kindly asked him to save play time for when mommy sits down......he doesn't listen very well, we are working on it.

This week we also had to make a tough decision. We are going to be switching to a new doctor. We have actually been seeing a midwife who we absolutely adore. She is an incredible Christian woman and she was highly recommended to us by a few people. She has had some family emergencies come up in the past few weeks (keep her family in your prayers) and she is now only in the office 1 day a week. (We haven't seen her at our last 2 appts) The only day that she works just happens to be a day that does not work for us because of Wesley's school schedule, so we would never get to see her for our appts. Not only that, but we were really starting to dread the 30 minute drive to our appts at St. Joes, because we live in North Phoenix. We were only going to that location for our midwife, and if she is not the one we are going to see, we would rather find a more convenient office. We are sad that she will not be the one delivering our son (we only had a 25% chance of her doing so anyways, because she rotates with the other midwives for who is on call) but we are so excited that we found another doctor (also highly recommended) whose office is 2 minutes from our house. We will now deliver at Scottsdale Shea!! Yay, I love that hospital. It is like a resort, and you can get a pedicure in your hotel room...eh, hospital room! Haha can you tell I am thrilled? Plus, it is like a 10-15 minute drive depending on traffic. Much more convenient for us.

So this week has been pretty eventful, at least for me. We are also on a regular walking schedule to try and keep me moving around. My hips are getting sore again, I think I am about to hit another growth spurt. Walking and stretching have been the best for my hips, so now we are trying to keep on with it as much as possible.

That's about it, I will let you know hopefully next week how my new doctor's appointment goes, I think we are going to try to see them next week if possible.
