First Birthday Party
We celebrated Camden's first birthday last weekend with friends and family. It was a blast! The weather was a little chilly in the morning when we were setting up, but by the time the party started, it was perfect! We had a blue and red theme for his party. I am not a big theme person, and I don't like many of the baby things out there for parties. So I did my own! I had seen a blog with the cutest red and blue birthday party for a boy, so I took their idea and I ran with it!
I found a perfect party package on etsy that went with my {theme}. If you have never seen these, you should totally check them out. For $10, I received a pdf with all the printables you can imagine using at your party. I was so excited about all the red and blue. The package I bought was meant to be a carnival theme, but I didn't really use much of the carnival parts to it. So it was very easy and cheap to plan this party. I actually had a huge ream of card stock that I have had since I was in college, so I pulled it out, printed all the paper goods, and spent a few hours cutting. I ended up making party hats, 2 party banners, welcome signs, food signs, food labels, goody bag tags, and tissue poms (the tissue poms were not from the party package).
I did not do all of this on my own. I had some great helpers! My mom helped me assemble all of the party hats, my best friend Jackie strung the banners, and we had a whole crew who helped up set up, including Wes, Paul, Brenda, my Mom, Jackie, my sisters, and my Dad.
Also in the picture above is Camden's little smash cake, that I had made. I always seem to get an idea in my head, and it doesn't quite turn out how I want it too. Apparently decorating a cake is MUCH harder than I imagined. But I guess it worked out ok. My mom had found these little cake pans that my Grandma used to make all of our first birthday cakes in. She brought them over for me to use. I thought it was pretty neat that his first cake was the same size as my first cake.
I also did a sweets table! It was definitely the best part of the party (besides Camden, of course). On the table we had cookies n cream kisses, cherry sours, red vines, homemade marshmallows, a bucket of apples, Camden's smash cake, a red velvet cake, and sugar cookies with a lemon glace. We also added some to-go bags with little tags that said "Thanks for making my party sweet", so the guests could take home their treats.
Besides having cute decorations, the party was really all about this little guy! Camden had a great time at his party. He loves to be outside, so having his party outdoors where he could move and explore all over, was perfect!
After enjoying lunch we let Cam dig into his first cake. He actually did a great job, but I expected no less. He took one look at his cake, pulled it in close and leaned over to take his first bite. Then he just picked it up and started shoveling it in. I think he likes sweets~
Next were his gifts. He looks like he was very interested in his presents, but really he only cared for about the first 2, then he was too distracted to finish. So Mommy opened all the gifts (with some help from our little cousins) and we all had a great time.
We spent a lot of time playing, and I know Camden was really enjoying himself, especially when he plays with Papa Glen. Papa Glen is definitely one of Camden's favorite toys, if he sees him in a room, you better believe Papa Glen is going to pick him up and fly him around the room, and Cam loves that!
The party was so much fun! Thank you to all of our fabulous friends and family who made the day great! We truly feel so loved by each and every one of you, and we look forward to celebrating many more birthdays with our little Camden.

His whole party was so cute! It was really laid back, fun, and relaxing. It reminded me of having a family picnic at the park with all of the kiddos playing and laughing as their parents chatted, enjoyed each other's company and ate ate yummy snacks. It was perfect and I could tell that Cam really enjoyed playing with everyone :)
