All about Camden

Here are a few things I have learned about Camden since we brought him home...

  • He only cries when he is hungry or when he is getting his diaper changed.
  • He loves napping on our chests.
  • He always recognizes Mommy and Daddy's voice, and is instantly calm as soon as he is in my arms.
  • He still gets hiccups about twice a day, same thing he did when he was in my tummy.
  • His eyes are getting bigger and more blue every day.
  • He loves his swing, it puts him to sleep so fast and helps me to be able to get housework done.
  • The boy is a peeing machine.
  • I adore him with a pacifier in his mouth, it is so big it takes up half his face and I just love it. Also, the paci's from the hospital smell like vanilla, and it makes him smell so sweet when he is done with it.
  • He hates a bath, but he LOVES his hair getting washed. Any time we rub his head he just melts into a puddle (Wes does the same thing).
  • He totally looks like Wes, but he has my hair color :)
  • His poopy diapers don't stink...but he farts like a man and boy do those smell!
  • His fingernails are so long... I have tried to file them 3 times and my poor baby still scratches his face when we don't have his boxing gloves (aka mittens) on him.
  • He has really long feet. When we saw them on our ultrasounds, the techs always pointed out how big they were! Wes tried to put a pair of newborn shoes on him and they didn't fit, haha.
  • Our pediatrician is convinced that Camden was not born 3 weeks early. He said he had plenty of signs of a full term or even post term baby; he had long fingernails, he was very clean when he was born (no vernix, which is usually on pre term babies), deep creases in his hands and feet, and his hands and feet began peeling when we brought him home. He was also such a big boy it is hard for me to believe that I should have gone another 3 weeks.
  • He make all kinds of sweet moans and groans in his sleep...I love baby noises.

Ok and here are a few updates on me

  • I have removed every piece of maternity clothes from our closet and put it in a big tupperware box, hopefully not to be seen again for at least 2 years.
  • I gained a total of 41 lbs...before my hospital stay when I plumped up like a marshmallow from all the fluids.
  • I am 15 lbs away from my pre pregnancy weight
  • My belly button is finally in again...no longer pointing straight out, haha!
  • I am enjoying feeling normal again, I can lay flat on my back or belly, walk up the stairs without running out of breath, pee only a few times a day instead of 10 times an hour, shave my legs with ease, and enjoy a glass of wine with dinner.
  • Wes bought me a new pair of running shoes, and I can't wait to start running!
  • I still have a big appetite, probably from nursing since you burn a lot of calories and your body uses a lot of energy to breast feed.
  • I love hugging my husband and feeling his body against mine, my belly used to be in the way.
  • Seeing my husband as a Daddy has made me fall more and more in love with him each day. He loves Camden and it just makes me melt to see him loving our son.
  • I love kissing Camden's lips, especially when he is hungry because he will suck on my bottom lip, it is so cute.
