I had my first baby shower this past weekend. It was a blast! We are so blessed to know so many amazing women, and they blessed us in so many ways this weekend. The shower was hosted by Camden's Grandma Bren (aka, Wesley's Mom). She did an amazing job, from the food to the decor to the entertainment...I could not have asked for anything more! We started out the party just mingling with all of the girls. As the girls came in they were asked to fill out a card with what they thought the name Camden meant. Later on, Brenda read them out loud and we had a great time hearing what people came up with. The real meaning of Camden is not that exciting...we did not choose his name for the meaning...his name means "winding valley"! Pretty deep, huh? After everyone arrived, we had a fabulous lunch, all homemade by Brenda! We had white wine creamy chicken sauce on top of pasta, a spinach and berry salad with homemade croutons and raspberry vinaigrette, along with some homemade rolls and sauteed asparagus. Mmmm it was sooo delicous! For dessert we had a chocolate fountain and "crown" cookies for our little prince. I really enjoyed the meal and the great company of all my friends. The weather was spectacular, and we were all able to sit outside for a beautiful lunch. After lunch we headed inside. We first had everyone introduced themselves. It was fun having friends there from gradeschool, gymnastics friends, church friends, and even some employees of my dad's who have known me since I was born. How fun to all be together! After the intros we read the definitions of Camden's name, and then everyone had a chance to share a silly childhood story. We then tackled all of Camdens gifts. I have to say, I absolutely LOVED each and every gift. This little boy has everything he could possibly need, and more. I can't say enough how blessed we are to have the friends we have, and their generosity just amazes me.
After our fun filled day, I was pretty exhausted. Wesley came back to his parents house and helped with all of the cleaning up. They allowed me to sit and go through all the gifts. I went through everything and took off tags, and opened toys and blankets. As tired as I was, I could not wait to get home and start organizing his room. When we got home that night I started my first load of baby laundry. I know you don't actually have to wash their clothes in Dreft, but I could not resist using it for his first wash. I am so glad I did, because now everything of his smells like yummy baby scent!! We did eventually finish putting away everything. All of his clothes are washed and folded, his hooded towels smell like baby and are hanging in his bathroom, and all his blankets are soft, snuggly and folded, ready for some baby loving, his books stacked in order- largest to smallest, and his diapers arranged by size! Lets just say, his room is 100% ready for him...oh yes, except we still need a mattress and his bedding :) But its ok, we have his basinett ready!
Thank you to everyone who came to the baby shower. It was such a fun day, you all blessed us beyond words and I love each and every one of you so much!
